Podsiadly Gets Away With SANFL Charge To Crow’s Happiness |
The SANFL tribunal took 15 minutes to overturn the week long suspension that had been handed down to Adelaide’s James Podsiadly for striking, majorly to the happiness of teammate’s skipper Taylor Walker and Patrick Dangerfield. Walker, Dangerfield and teammate’s Riley knight and Sam Siggins, along with a former AFL player by the name Campbell brown, presented their grievances on twitter with the charge on Tuesday morning The player (Podsiadly) had been cited for a hit high on Sam overall playing for south Adelaide’s last weekend. Podsiadly shepherd had met Sam, front on when he disposed the ball. The crows maintained their stand that no high contact had been made and therefore the suspension was supposed to be overturned. The 33 year old Podsiadly had risked a two match suspension by challenging the charge. However, the suspension was overturned after the club presented its grievances to the tribunal, it did not take long before the tribunal agreed.
Crows, James Podsiadly was cleared to play this coming weekend after the tribunal overturned ban for a striking charge. The SANFL review tribunal had alleged that pods contact was careless, high and of medium impact. This was after Sam Overall left the pitch after the collision with pods. Initially, a pod has received a ban of two matches with the possibility of not being reduced to one game if he pleaded guilty early in advance.
But the 33 year old crow’s forward, who remains the leader of Adelaide’s SANFL goal-kicking record with twenty four (24) majors of the season, was able to successfully convince the panel to overrule the decision on Tuesday. Upon dismissal of the suspension, James Podsiadly said
“I’m disappointed it got this far, as I’ve always felt I’ve played the game in a fair and honest way, I’m happy with the result and can now concentrate on this week’s game.”
