Getzlaf Reels On Argos Secondary
The Roughriders were beaten 30-26 by the visiting Toronto Argonauts in the Sunday’s game. The game presented the drama that the CFL busy searching for on converts. Trevor Harris threw 2 touchdown passes and made a run for another, helping the Toronto Argonauts win the match and keep the Roughriders winless on the season. The Argonauts prevented two game winning   pass in the final seconds of the game. Chris Getzlaf was able to catch a pair of touchdowns, including the 55-yard grab. On the other hand, Paul McCallum was able to convert his 800th career point is yet to miss a single one in his entire career.

The game started off as a defensive battle that limited the teams to field goals. After replacing Chad Owens Diontae Spenser had ninety four (94) receiving yards and caught a game winning touchdown in the final minutes of the game. However, it is worth noting that both the teams played the match without their top receivers on the pitch. Both Chad Owens and Weston Dressler were conspicuously missing from the pitch. It is the horse-caller tackles on Roughriders that allowed Argos to move into the scoring territory at the beginning of the final frame. Trevor then connected with the 27 year pass with Hazleton to tie the match at 23-23.

Miller’s 4o yard punt return put the rough riders in a great filed spot, but the advantage was   erased by an array of penalties. Jerome Messam tried helping move the chains, but the 55-yard   touchdown catch by Getzlaf was bought back by an offside call on Roughriders. Midway in the third quarter, Akwasi intercepted smith and gave back the pick 5o yards for a touchdown cutting the lead to just two. Trevor connected with a linesman Wayne smith on the 2 point convert tying the game 16-16. Wayne ran for 15 yards on a quarterback sneak on 3 and 1 and connected with the wide open Getzlaf on the next play touchdown. It was Getzlaf’s 2nd major of the match and a 55 yard reception as Roughriders tried to remain in the match. Next week, the Argos visit Winnipeg blue bombers as the Roughriders regroup.
