Willy Sidelined For 6-8 Weeks With Right Knee Injury

Winnipeg Blue Bombers made an announcement on Tuesday starting that drew Willy will not be playing in the next 6-8 weeks with a knee injury. In addition, the bombers could also be without two other key players, including Darvin Adams with an upper body and Paris Cotton with a broken arm. Drew suffered the knee injury in the 38-8 loss to the Tiger Cats on Sunday. As a result, he was removed in the third quarter of the game and did not return. This is the statement that was released by Winnipeg blue bombers on Tuesday morning.

After consulting with team medical personnel over the last 24 hours, it has been determined quarterback drew will suffered a tibia plateau fracture, as well as a particle PCL tear in his right knee, during the club’s game in Hamilton on Sunday. The estimated earliest recovery time for this injury is 6-8 weeks.

Drew had featured in all the seven starting games for the blue bombers this season and was on track to  building a career year. At the moment, Willy owns a 106.6 quarterback rating, second for active starting   players while throwing eight touchdowns to only three interceptions. Brian Brohm will be expected to   start when the bombers meet Argos at home on Friday night. This season Brian has completed 27-of-51 passes for 235 yards with a relief role, getting a quarterback rating of 32.7.

On the other hand, the bombers are still waiting to know the status of Darvin Adams and Paris Cotton, although the Blue Bombers Sun’s Paul Friesen reported that Paris injury is long term. Both Cotton and Adams were injured on Sunday loss. Cameron Marshall will be expected to assume a bigger role in the Winnipeg’s offensive backfield, while Darvin was one of the Bombers hottest receivers, particularly in the absence of nick more who is out with an injury. Paul Friesen of the blue bombers believes that the Bombers have been out-coached season this season and this could have had a hand in the clubs 3-4 record.
